Terms of Registration and Use of the Metal Music of Universum (MMU) Platform

Registration and Account Creation

To access the full features of the MMU platform (uploading melodies, collaborating on songs, forum, etc.), registration is required. By registering, you create a free account, providing a valid email, username, and password. All information must be accurate and up to date; otherwise, your account may be suspended. You are responsible for the security of your password and all activity under your account. MMU reserves the right to refuse or cancel registration only in cases of serious reasons. By registering, you agree to these terms and acknowledge that MMU is not responsible for data loss or unauthorized access caused by your negligence.

Copyright and Ownership of Content

Each composition created on the MMU platform retains its own copyright, which remains with the authors. By uploading melodies or contributions, you guarantee that you hold all rights to the content (not infringing on copyrights, personality rights, or other third-party rights). MMU does not claim ownership of your content but grants itself a non-exclusive, free license to host, display, and share it within the platform (e.g., for listening previews or commercialization with your consent). If you upload an arrangement of an existing song, ensure it is not protected by copyright, otherwise both you and MMU could face legal consequences.

Copyright for music generally lasts 70 years after the author’s death, in some countries 50 years (China, Brazil), and in others up to 100 years (Mexico).

Collaboration on Songs

The founding author of a composition (the one who uploads the first melody) may invite any number of musicians to collaborate. However, there may be a maximum of 4 co-authors (including the founding author) who make a significant contribution (e.g., mixing, arrangement, or adding new parts) and thus gain a share of copyright. Each composition automatically includes MUDr. Jan Šafránek (founder of the platform) as a co-author, providing support and technical facilities (e.g., recording in Písek). Shares of rights and revenues from the composition (e.g., from sales or streams) will be divided equally among co-authors unless otherwise agreed in writing. MMU assists with commercialization but does not guarantee any income. You can be confident that if the music is of high quality, the money will follow.

General Terms

By using MMU, you agree not to upload illegal, harmful, or infringing content. MMU may moderate or remove content without notice in serious cases.
